The concept of scaling is introduced early and used extensively throughout the text. At the heart of the book is an extensive treatment of mean field theory, from the simplest decoupling approach, through the density matrix formalism, to self-consistent classical and quantum field theory as well as exact solutions on the Cayley tree. In theoretical physics, statistical field theory (SFT) is a theoretical framework that describes phase transitions. It does not denote a single theory but encompasses many models, including for magnetism, superconductivity, superfluidity, topological phase transition, wetting as well as non-equilibrium phase transitions.A SFT is any model in statistical mechanics where the degrees of freedom.

As a fundamental branch of theoretical physics, quantum field theory has led, in the last 20 years, to spectacular progress in our understanding of phase transitions and elementary particles. This textbook emphasizes the underlying unity of the concepts and methods used in both domains, and presents in clear language topics such as the perturbative expansion, Feynman diagrams, renormalization. Path Integrals in Physics: Volume II, Quantum Field Theory, Statistical Physics and other Modern Applications covers the fundamentals of path integrals, both the Wiener and Feynman types, and their many applications in physics. The book deals with systems .

Classification of the non-equilibrium quantum many-body dynamics is a challenging problem in condensed matter physics and statistical mechanics. In this work, we study the basic question that whether a (1+1) dimensional conformal field theory (CFT) is stable or not under a periodic driving withN non-commuting Hamiltonians. Previous works showed that a Floquet (or periodically driven) CFT. Functional Integrals in Quantum Field Theory and Statistical Physics | V. N. Popov, J. Niederle | download | B–OK. Over the past few decades the powerful methods of statistical physics and Euclidean quantum field theory have moved closer together, with common tools based on the use of path integrals.

The interpretation of Euclidean field theories as particular systems of statistical physics has opened up new avenues for understanding strongly coupled quantum systems or quantum field theories Cited by:   This book provides an introduction to the methods of coupled quantum statistical field theory and Green's functions.

The methods of coupled quantum field theory have played a major role in the extensive development of nonrelativistic quantum many-particle theory and condensed matter physics. "Methods of Quantum Field Theory in Statistical Physics" by A.A. Abrikosov, L. gorkox, and I.E. Dzyaloshinski (or "AGD" as it is known) is thought of by many as the be all and end all of field theory texts in the condensed matter physics world.

Statistical Field Theory This textbook provides a thorough introduction to phase transitions and exactly solved models in statistical physics and quantum field theory. It covers a broad area from basic concepts of statistical physics and quantum mechanics to latest developments in low dimensional quantum field theories, phase transitions and non-perturbative analysis.

This graduate level text describes in a unified fashion the statistical mechanics of random walks, random surfaces and random higher dimensional manifolds with an emphasis on the geometrical aspects of the theory and applications to the quantization of strings, gravity and topological field theory.

A beautiful little book from one of the masters of conformal eld theory. It covers the material from a slightly di erent perspective than these lectures, with more focus on renormalisation in real space.

Statistical Physics by Michael Cross. This note covers the following topics: principles of statistical mechanics, applications to simple systems that can be solved exactly, and the connections with thermodynamics, Classical Nonideal Gas, Dense Gases and the Liquid State, First Order Phase Transitions: Second Order Phase Transitions, Landau Theory, Fluctuations, Kinetic Theory.

The material covered and the level of exposition make the book typically appropriate for graduate and undergraduate students in physics. It is actually one of the first problem books in quantum field theory, and can be very useful students both following a course and studying on their own." (Bassano Vacchini, Zentralblatt MATH, Vol.

(4), )Reviews: 4. This book emphasizes the algebraic approach, in terms of modular operands, to string field theory. It is intended for researches and graduate students in physics and mathematics who are interested in the applications of algebraic structures to string and quantum field theory.

This basic text is indispensable to scientists, physicists, and mathematicians involved with statistical physics, in particular cryogenics and solid state physics. The only prerequisite is a familiarity with statistical physics and quantum mechanics. Reprint of the revised English edition. In physics, a field is a physical quantity, represented by a number or tensor, that has a value for each point in space-time.

For example, on a weather map, the surface temperature is described by assigning a real number to each point on a map; the temperature can be considered at a fixed point in time or over some time interval, to study the dynamics of temperature change.

Acclaimed by American Scientist as "a classic text on field theoretic methods in statistical physics," this comprehensive introduction to the many-body theory and its ramifications was written by three internationally known Russian physicists. It constitutes an invaluable guide to physicists, mathematicians, and others involved in statistical and solid state physics/5.Quantum Field Theory as a Faithful Image of Nature by Hans Christian Öttinger - arXiv, This book can be used as a textbook on quantum field theory for students of physics or as a monograph for philosophers and physicists interested in the epistemological foundations of particle physics.

The reader is stimulated to critical thinking.speaking, not as classical eld theories but as quantum eld theories, and it is usually in a course in quantum eld theory that these other eld theories are described. So, in a typical physics curriculum, it is through such courses that a student normally gets exposed to the tools and results of classical eld theory.
